✨ On the edge of a small town, in a snow-covered garden right next to a cozy family house, stood a snowman named Timy. The children had built him with a coal smile and a carrot nose. His body had buttons made of little pebbles, his arms were made of birch twigs, a soft red scarf was tied around his neck, and finally, they placed a big blue pot on his head.
Timy loved watching the house more than anything. Every evening, a warm golden light would shine through the living room window.
🔥 Inside, a fire crackled merrily in the fireplace, and the family gathered around the Christmas tree, laughing and drinking hot cocoa. Timy felt very lonely out in the freezing wind. It made him sad that during the day, children would skip around him and throw snowballs, but in the evening, he was left all alone in the yard. He longed to feel that cozy warmth and be near the people, to laugh with them in the living room and warm his hands by the hot fireplace.
One evening, the patio door was left open by accident. Timy gathered all his strength, moved his white snowy feet, and took a few heavy, sliding steps. Swoosh, slide, swoosh, slide… He carefully slipped inside the house and stood near the fireplace, right on the living room rug.
🛋️ At first, it felt amazing. The air smelled of cinnamon, pine needles, and sweet vanilla. But within a minute, Timy started to feel strange. His snowy chest began to soften, his pebble buttons loosened, and big drops of water started to roll down his arms. He felt very weak and tired, asking himself: “Is it because of the heat? Or am I just getting old?”
Just then, little Lily walked into the living room in her pajamas. She felt a chilly breeze coming from somewhere, tickling her toes that had peeked out from under her blanket. She gasped in surprise when she saw a real snowman standing right by their fireplace! But then she noticed the puddle forming on the rug.
😢 “Oh, Timy!” Lily whispered, running over to him, careful not to touch him with her warm hands. “What are you doing inside? You look so sad, and you’re melting all over!”
🥶 “I just wanted to feel the warmth you have at home, Lily,” Timy sighed, his carrot nose tilting downward. “It looks so lovely by the fireplace. I didn’t want to be left alone in the cold anymore.”
Lily smiled gently, though her eyes were filled with worry for Timy. She looked at the crackling fire and then back at her freezing friend.
❤️ “Dear Timy, I understand,” Lily said softly. “The fireplace is wonderful for us, but the warm air is your enemy. If you stay here, you will turn into a big puddle of water and disappear forever. Your home is outside in the crisp winter air. That is where your magic is safe, right under the twinkling stars.”
Timy looked at his melting hands and realized Lily was right. He didn’t want to turn into water. But he was now too weak to slide back out on his own.
🚪 Lily didn’t waves her hands in despair; she didn’t hesitate for a single second. She opened the garden door wide, grabbed a big plastic snow shovel, and gently helped push Timy back out onto the chilly terrace. The moment the icy winter wind blew over him, Timy let out a deep sigh of relief. His snow hardened again, Lily fixed his smile and his carrot nose, and it stood proud and straight once more.
Lily put on her winter coat, stepped outside, and sat on the bench right next to him. Timy looked up at the glittering stars and then at his new best friend. He realized he didn’t need the fireplace to feel warm inside – the warmth of Lily’s friendship was more than enough.
After a little while, Lily scurried back inside, because just as Timy had been too hot by the fireplace, Lily was getting too cold out in the freezing night. But she promised Timy one thing: before going to bed, she would always wave to him from the window – the very window that Timy loved to watch so much.
✨ The magic of frost and cold has its own special charm!
