🎄 Advent Calendar 2026 – Day 12: The Great Igloo Battle

✨ It was the twelfth day of December, and a massive pile of clean, white snow stood in little Kate’s yard – the very one the North Wind had blown there for her a few days ago. And since it was the weekend, little Kate didn’t have to go to school this morning; it was the perfect time to run around outside and play in the snow. Kate didn’t waste any time and called her brother Christian outside early in the morning. They had a grand Christmas plan: to build the biggest and strongest snow igloo in the entire village.

❄️ They worked as hard as little bees all morning. Christian carried the snow and packed it into tight snow bricks, while Kate carefully stacked them in a big circle. The work went smoothly and quickly. A few hours later, it was finally finished. The igloo had a small tunnel entrance and was wonderfully cozy inside. Kate brought a warm blanket inside, and Christian planted a tiny Christmas flag with a blue snowflake right on top. They excitedly looked forward to spending entire days here, from morning till night, once the Christmas holidays arrived.

But the peace inside their new snow fortress was suddenly interrupted by a snowball smashing into the igloo. “What is going on?” Kate asked Christian. “I don’t know, but I’ll find out right away!” Christian replied, already scrambling out of the igloo. And at that exact moment – Whoosh, splat! Another large snowball smashed right into the wall of the igloo and scattered into powder.

🚀 Peer over the garden fence stood the neighbors’ children, Leo and Victoria, laughing. They already had more snowballs ready in their hands. “Watch out, the fortress is under fire!” Leo shouted with a grin, throwing another snowball that narrowly missed Christian’s head.

“To arms! We must defend our igloo!” Christian commanded, and Kate instantly ducked behind the snow wall. Kate began making one snowball after another with lightning speed – she was the supplier – and Christian threw one snowball after another at the neighbors’ children. The grandest, most cheerful Christmas snowball fight the street had ever seen broke out. Snowballs flew through the air back and forth, snow sprayed in every direction, and the yard echoed with loud laughter and joyful shouts.

❤️ Leo and Victoria tried to surround the igloo, but Kate and Christian held a brilliant defense. When everyone was completely covered in snow and exhausted, their cheeks bright red from the frost and their mittens soaking wet, Kate called for a truce. “Wait! You have to come visit our igloo! Come see what we have inside!”

Leo and Victoria happily agreed. First, however, all the children ran home to change into dry clothes so they wouldn’t get sick. After a few minutes, they all returned in dry clothes and squeezed inside the cozy igloo, where they shared warm tea from a thermos and fragrant gingerbread cookies that Mom handed them through the window. As it began to grow dark outside, they all agreed that this was the best winter battle ever and that they would definitely repeat it next weekend.
